Kindy kids find their treasure in books

piratesam.jpgBook Week activities commenced with a bang last week with kids hunting for treasure through their stunning nature playground led by kindergarten President ‘Pirate Sam’.

A crew of young 3-5 year old pirates descended on Tamborine Mountain’s local kindergarten to join in the fun.

Pirates were joined by grandparents, parents and a colourful group of children’s favourite book characters including a Wonkey Donkey, Lucy, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell, Puss in Boots, Little Red Riding Hood, super heroes, dinosaurs and fairies.

Parents and kids have also enjoyed transforming the kindy into a pirate wonderland with colourful displays and craft.

The mountain’s own kindy, Tamborine Mountain Community Kindergarten has a long history of developing a love of reading in children, educating 3-5 year olds for almost 40 years.

“Reading and love of books is embedded in our culture,” said President Sam Schneider. “It is such an important and treasured part of kindy life. We are passionate about encouraging kids to dive into books for pleasure and learning.”
